Web hosting is the process of renting space and bandwidth through a company so that your website will be online. It means that you can publish your website so that anybody in the world can visit your website on the Web. You can either pay a web hosting company for your website hosting or you can opt for free hosting. If you go for free hosting then you will have banner ads or pop-ups on your website. If you pay you will have no adverts and will be in complete control of your website.
Yes. These are client side features – which mean that it runs on your visitor's computer. So you can add flash, JavaScript or Java Applets to your website and as long as your visitors have these features available on their computers they will be able to view your web pages perfectly. Any browser (such as Internet Explorer or Netscape) that supports them will do. So these features are all supported by default on all hosting packages.

MySQL, MS (Microsoft) SQL Server and Access are database systems. Databases are a collection of data arranged for ease and speed of search and retrieval. The most common way of uploading files to your site's account is by using FTP. When you sign up you will be sent your FTP account and details that lets you access files in your account. You can then use a FTP tool to transfer your website files from your hard drive to your FTP account on the web server. You can use a dedicated FTP program such as WS_FTP, CuteFTP or FileZilla. Alternately you can use the built in Windows or Internet Explorer FTP program. If you prefer a Web interface, you can use your account control panel's File Manager instead. We suggest using dedicated FTP programs because these programs have the best user interfaces and support advanced options like setting file permissions and resuming aborted file transfers. You can download FileZilla in the Download Section of our Support site.
